It feels like it’s been ages since the last time New Girl graced jean louis murat us with its presence on FOX. Anyway, my point is: “Clavado En Un Bar” was a highly anticipation episode for all New Girl fans. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel like it was worthy of much praise for being a midseason premiere. From the ashes of the Broken Spoke Cafe, which burned and subsequently nabilah closed last year, rises yet another ambitious watering hole/eatery along the Washington Avenue corridor. Hello, Caddy Shack Bar and Grill, set to open Aug. 10.
Entrepreneurs and brothers Eric and Kelly Armstead are positioning their new endeavor to become a popular neighborhood haunt. "It's just something nabilah we always wanted to do. We aren't trying to compete with any other bars," Eric nabilah Armstead said. "It's going to be a chill place where people can come have drinks, lunch or dinner, just hang out." 
Just because the guys chose Caddy Shack as the name, don't expect a golfer's paradise or nabilah a  Chevy Chase shrine .  The Armsteads came up with the name because the property is small and the bar/grill will be a cozy installation. But if you need your fix of the classic nabilah comedy flick , it will be playing continuously on a small TV in the bar.  If that's not your thing, you can catch what's playing on 13 flat screens, 11 inside and two on an outside deck.
Beyond Caddy Shack's signature drink, nabilah the fizzy Beer-rita, and more typical adult libations, the owners will serve pizza, burgers and seafood.  "Yes, it's a bar, but we wanted to concentrate more on the food side," Eric said. "Everything will be fresh, never frozen or packaged."

Michael Strickland of Strickland & Kendall and Dwayne Brown of the Law office of Dwayne L. Brown, P.C. filed an initial suit on January 6th on behalf of Keldric Landon, shot 3 times while a patron at the club.
Named as defendants in both suits are The Flight, LLC d/b/a Centennial Hill Bar & Grill, owner and manager Nicole Bankhead, the club's security company and other unnamed individuals who may be identified in the future.

MONTGOMERY, Alabama – An online petition seeking the demolition of a Montgomery richard brautigan bar marked by violence richard brautigan has garnered more than 2,000 signatures, but the city's mayor says officials do not have the authority to demolish the building.
City officials closed the Centennial Bar and Grill  after rapper Glenn Thomas, 22, known as Doe B., and Kimberle Johnson, a 22-year-old Troy University student, were fatally shot Dec. 28. Tim Hamilton, 20, died Friday night after remaining hospitalized in critical condition since the shooting. Five others were wounded and were hospitalized in stable condition.
"This club has been an ongoing place for various problems, security issues, a nuisance to surrounding homeowners and criminal activity," the petition richard brautigan reads. "Please destroy this building once and for all before someone ELSE reopens it under a different name, different 'licensee' but with the SAME issues."
In a written response, Strange commended the "involved and informed citizens" who expressed concerns and signed the petition, but said that city officials can only request a building demolition if structural safety is at issue.
"The troubled history of this property without question was a factor in our decision to close the business," Strange said in the statement. richard brautigan "Issues of structural safety would have allowed the city to take an additional step and order the building demolished. But structural safety has never been an issue at this business; richard brautigan threats to the safety of its patrons have been of a different nature. The continuing threat to safety posed by the operation of this business gave us the authority to shut it down, but we have no legal authority to demolish the building."
"As mayor, council and community, we have the power to determine the future richard brautigan of this property," Strange said. "We are of one mind with the good people richard brautigan of the Centennial Hill neighborhood. Any future operation or development at this site must be consistent with the wishes of the community and the safety of our city."
The building once housed the Rose Supper Club and the business had its liquor license revoked after six people were shot in December 2012. The city council in September granted a liquor license to Bankhead, who worked as a bartender and manager richard brautigan for the supper club before she opened the Centennial Bar and Grill.

MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- The Montgomery City Council will no longer allow the owner of Centennial Hill Bar & Grill to operate a business in the city following a Dec. 28 shooting that killed three people and injured five.
The Council made the decision at its Tuesday night meeting when the owner Nicole Bankhead didn’t show up to the meeting, WSFA reported. The bar’s business license café de flore expired café de flore on Dec. 31, and Bankhead didn’t attempt to renew it.
Mayor Todd Strange had already ordered Centennial Hill Bar & Grill closed immediately after the shooting that killed rapper Glenn Thomas, 22, known as Doe B., Kimberle Johnson, a 22-year-old Troy University student, and Timnorius Hamilton, 20.
One of the five victims café de flore injured in the shooting, Keldric Landon, has filed a lawsuit against Bankhead, The Flight LLC doing business as Centennial Hill Bar & Grill and the company that provided security at the bar.

Clarence Young, Jr. and Ferro Bennett, both, 20, have filed suit against The Flight LLC, doing business as Centennial Hill Bar & Grill, its owner Nicole Bankhead fox and hound and an unidentified company that provided security at the bar, claiming the defendants were negligent or reckless and caused or contributed to them being injured.
Young was shot once and Bennett was shot three times during the multiple shooting that killed three and injured five, Montgomery attorney Michael Strickland, who filed the suit, released. It was the first time they had ever been to the club.
Rapper Glenn Thomas, 22, known as Doe B., and Kimberle Johnson, a 22-year-old Troy University student, were fatally shot in the club in the early the morning hours of Dec. 28. Timnorius Hamilton, 20, died from his injuries on Jan. 3.
Montgomery police have charged Darius Thomas, 25, and Jason McWilliams, 25, both of Montgomery with three counts of capital murder in connection with the shooting. It is believed the suspects had an ongoing dispute with Thomas.
Strickland stated Young and Bennett “quickly became unwarranted shooting victims,” and their lives have been permanently changed. Both have been unable to return to work and are undergoing physical therapy.

Schmidt gets the lion share of the laughs with his tale of how he got into marketing. His fish-out-o

To start this year, fresh after the holiday break, New Girl gives us a quick little throwaway episode that we can use to cleanse our pallet of our indulgent Christmas viewing and get back to the nitty-gritty. And believe me, this is New Girl at its most throwaway and pointless. Perhaps that’s a little harsh, but it’s true – at the end of this episode, we haven’t really learnt anything or gotten anywhere at all. We reach something close to profoundness with Winston’s realisation that every decision cotton club he’s ever made has been at the hands of someone else, but on closer inspection that doesn’t really fly – every decision we make depends on a million of other factors, all decided on by someone else. No one is really in control in life, this isn’t The Matrix . There’s no secret coding, nobody who can see through the system. Winston’s realisation may have consequences for the show insofar as he will no longer be able to do that job we never see him doing, but aside from that, not much at all.
The premise behind this episode is that Jess has had a very tempting job offer – one that would be slightly easier, in better surroundings, and (as we find out later on) pays more. She implores the gang to give her some advice as to whether she should follow her heart and stay in teaching or go with her head and take the new job, explore new pastures, cotton club and maybe find her calling in that direction.
Like with Winston, we also come close to something meaningful down this path but never further than cod-philosophising, summed up neatly by Jess when she asks Nick, “How do you know if you’re on the right path?” Obviously you never know until you’ve made that choice, by which time it’s usually too late to turn back. Such is life. Jess being an anxious soul finds this extremely worrying and her compadres each proceed to give her, in turn, examples of big decisions they’ve made in their lives and how they’ve affected them. I guess it’s in sort of the same vein as last season’s “ Virgins ,” with each character looking back at a pivotal moment cotton club in their life, but ultimately it fails to have anywhere near the laughs that episode achieved. That’s not to say the episode doesn’t have any funny moments, it just doesn’t really add up to much. Next
Schmidt gets the lion share of the laughs with his tale of how he got into marketing. His fish-out-of-water experience as a Jewish volunteer nurse who discovers a talent for selling Christmas trees, which he parlays into a job in marketing, is a nice little story. I’d say that it could have easily been an episode in its own right, and his complete bafflement at Jess’ refusal to take the new job just because it pays more than the old one was a nice sour note to end what was in danger of being slightly uplifting.
Coach’s story of his natural coachdom cotton club exploding out during one of Winston’s Latvian basketball games was great not just because it gave Damon Wayans Jr. a chance to shout at the top of his lungs – something he does often in this episode, and always cotton club to great effect – but because it gave us a peek at Winston’s “Dennis Rodman” period, image-wise. His leopard print ‘do is magnificent, and it’s a real shame he didn’t stick with the pierced ears.
If Schmidt’s cotton club story was able to sidestep cotton club New Girl ‘s worrying tendency of trying to get meaningful on occasion, Nick’s manages no such thing. His story is heartening, and slightly unbelievable when you think about it. How so? Well, think of it this way – how has Nick been sold to us up to now? As an idiot? A drunken man-child? A law school dropout? Well, it turns out that all this time, Nick has chosen cotton club to work as a barman. He graduated law school, made the California state bar, but just didn’t become a lawyer. He wanted cotton club to be a barman, not a lawyer. Being a barman was always Nick’s destiny, apparently. He followed his heart, even though his heart led him to a job that involved a lot of self-loathing, and poverty. Does that count as a Nick win? I’m not sure. It sort of throws away everything we know about Nick thus far, which might be a good thing, but might be a bad thing.
Being a barman is still better than Cece’s career prospects, though. One of my favourite things about the show, that has gone somewhat unacknowledged up to now, is how badly Cece’s modelling is going. Whenever we’re made privy to any of her assignments, it’s an increasingly cotton club tawdry job, culminating in this episode’s assignment as being the caller to a sex line. Nick persuading her to work with him behind the bar would suggest that we’re going to be there a whole lot more now, and that perhaps we’ll get a few Nick/Cece adventures, which is probably the

The two are trying to create a sports bar atmosphere with seven TVs, two projectors, a couple of pool tables, dart boards and arcade games. They also want to be known for tasty, reasonably priced food, Colliatie says.
The business will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Colliatie says one of Cleats signature dishes will be gourmet, stuffed burgers. He says all of the meat the grill serves will be top grade. Fries will be cut fresh, he says.

No, you re not in a swamp, but you will find plenty of amphibians at this eatery. kufa Once the late Web House Café and Bar, Los Frogs Mexican Bar & Grill has made strides in giving the location new life with a fresh paint job and a lime green mascot. Though there s no explicit relation to Mexico s Señor Frog s, the vibe is vaguely similar. If Señor Frog s is the established older brother, San Antonio s Los Frogs is a ragtag younger sibling. The décor is redundant and kitschy, as if the owners asked: How many metal frogs can I fit into one building? The answer: many.
Yet, the addition of Los Frogs at summer s end was a bit ho-hum. There are several other similar joints nearby (Taqueria Chapala Jalisco, El Milagrito, El Regio Café and La Gloria are all within a mile), so it was hard to peg whether this neighborhood bar and grill with a penchant for ranas would make it through the winter.
My kufa first visit to converted space was for breakfast. The menu is small, no doubt, but let s be honest, I was there for the breakfast tacos. Not usually a fan of chorizo and egg (too messy), I decided to give Los Frogs version a try and this little froggy didn t disappoint. The egg was fluffy kufa enough to encapsulate every bit of chorizo no extra napkins needed. The barbacoa, served with fresh verduras (onions and cilantro) did require a bit more finesse. kufa While the flavor was spot on, the grease leaking from my tortilla was enough to ruin several sweaters. The country ham and egg was standard, though also enveloped by the same fluffy eggs as the chorizo. Any one taco is more than enough to get you through the morning.
Much like Los Frogs more upscale neighbor at the Pearl, the restaurant specializes in a bit of street food while also throwing in Tex-Mex fare. The mini sopes were A) not so mini and B) loaded with bright red chorizo, crema and a healthy sprinkling of queso fresco. The masa, fried just so, was satisfying and perfectly seasoned. An order of mini froggies or mini taquitos de bistek was once again suitable, but not mindblowing; if anything, the taquitos needed a good salting. kufa Kermit would have approved of the bright green tomatillo salsa with just a touch of avocado, which helped give the taquitos a kick. My dining kufa partner s huarache was a highlight: almost as wide and long as the plate it was served kufa on, the slightly-thicker-than-average tortilla was topped with a choice of two meats, a layer of refried beans, the aforementioned verduras and the green salsa. Available at $5.50 without meat, and $8.95 with, the huarache is a must-try, if only because you can top it with the lemon-y pork costillas kufa and barbacoa for the best of both worlds. Of the caldos offered, the fideo ($5.50-$6.50) was thick and savory with a strong dose of tomatoes and cumin.
Another lunchtime hit came in the way of the albondigas en chipotle paired with quality kufa Spanish rice and a serving of refried beans. Intrigued by the mention of meatballs, I decided to give the dish a shot. While not the most aesthetically appealing dish by any means, the albondigas were pleasantly seasoned with the signature smoky spiciness from the chipotles coming in as more of an afterthought.

At Koi Sushi Bar & Grill, south of Interstate 20 off Texas 360, the fresh-fish fade street social game has been elevated to a new delicious level, thanks to seasoned sushi chefs and an exceedingly comfortable atmosphere.
Last spring, Koi opened in a former sushi space, intent fade street social to separate fade street social itself from the crowd. Right away, you’ll notice one way it stands out — its gorgeous dining room, all red banquettes, textured ceramic walls and luxe crystal pendant lights and chandeliers. The atmosphere is so pleasant and serene, we soon forgot the frustration of sitting in frontage-road Christmastime traffic just a few minutes earlier.
We fade street social toed the Japanese/Vietnamese line by ordering the seared tuna spring rolls ($7.95), eight little flattened rice paper pockets, each filled with about two inches’ worth of asparagus spears and a small piece of raw tuna. It was a simple pairing that was tasty enough, as long as you avoided the wasabi dipping sauce, which was little more than oil that had separated from soy sauce.
The barbecued pork Chinese egg noodle soup ($7.50) was a large bowl filled fade street social with crispy noodles, bok choy and a generous amount of pork. It was fragrant and hearty — ideal for those in your group who shun sushi in search of more filling food.
The asparagus beef ($15.95), stir-fried chunks of rib eye served with asparagus and red and green peppers, drew more than a few comparisons to a plate of fajitas — if you didn’t factor in the bowl of sticky rice served on the side and the entrée’s sweet-and-spicy fade street social sauce.
All three of the sushi specials sounded tempting the night we visited, but we especially liked the popcorn shrimp ($7.95) and the Sweet Caroline ($13) rolls. The former was exactly what it sounds like, with a little nib-let of tempura-fried shrimp married with julienned cucumber and an unexpected sprig of cilantro, fade street social which added a fresh touch.
The Sweet Caroline fade street social was even more innovative, with tempura vegetables rolled inside rice and topped with fresh crab and shrimp. But what really won us over was the mango-raspberry chili sauce drizzled on top. It sounded totally incongruous, fade street social but the sweet notes worked wonders complementing fade street social the roll’s fade street social ingredients. Koji Aoki, Koi’s head sushi chef, is an alum of Sushi Zone and I Love Sushi, so he knows the drill. Now, he simply wants to transfer his Arlington success to Grand Prairie. Early yesterday morning a massive fire started across the street from me in a Citibank branch. All day almost 200 firefighters tried to put it out by blasting it with water and foam (my street was covered with the latter greene king — looked sort of like snow), but as of last night it was still smoldering. One firefighter told me that it was in the walls and, the space having become so unstable, they couldn’t get to it. The good news is that since it started a little after 5 AM no one was inside and, other than a handful who were treated for the smoke, no one was hurt. (As far as I know those of us living nearest to the fire are otherwise all fine other than smelling greatly of the smoke which was pretty intense.)
What makes me terribly sad is that while it looked as if the building next to the bank was okay, now hours and hours later, the water and smoke has evidently caused significant damage . My gloom is because the two businesses in that building are the sort more and more rare in this neighborhood . On the top is The Heights Bar and Grill , a simple burger and beer joint popular among the Columbia students and others in the neighborhood who preferred it to the more upscale places nearby. And on the ground floor is Samad’s Gourmet Deli , a venerable establishment that has been there for decades. They’ve a huge cat Poncho II, that terrorizes my dog, wonderful Middle Eastern treats, and caring and lovely employees. My father greene king loved buying his coffee from their open bins and chatting with the owners. They’ve a bench outside where anyone can sit (even those who haven’t bought anything) and I’ve often worried about their survival what with Starbucks and other fancier nearby places. So far they have, but now? Will these two plain and important places be able to recover from this? I sure hope so.

Toby Keith is known for being opinionated cwtch in his music and in interviews, and it would seem that non-apologetic approach to standing up for what he believes in has carried over to the singer’s I Love This Bar & Grill restaurants.
The newest location in Woodbridge, Va. — a state that allows residents to openly carry guns — has a sign that reads “No Guns Permitted” on their door. But more than a few especially vocal patrons who were angered to be greeted by those words have vowed to never step foot into the establishment again.
A Facebook page for the restaurant has been inundated with comments, both good and bad, about the policy. “That sign on the door means that I will never try your restaurant. It is a cultural thing among we Americans It is the fact that you seek to restrict cwtch a Constitutional cwtch Right that bothers the public,” one reads. “This is what will cost you.
“While cwtch we understand and respect every person’s right to own and bear arms, we at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill, with guidance from the State of Virginia and based on insurance regulations, have adopted a no weapons policy. It is our desire to provided a safe, enjoyable and entertaining experience for our patrons and staff.”
Country fans will remember that just over a month ago, outlaw singer Wayne Mills was shot dead at a bar in Nashville after an altercation with the bar owner. When asked about the I Love This Bar & Grill gun banning, some individuals are leaning toward safety, saying it’s a smart idea not to mix alcohol and guns.
I think it s a great idea, Jayne Marconi, a traveler from Ohio, told the local Fox 5 news station. Anywhere there s an establishment that serves alcohol, I m going to tell you right now, alcohol can make you do funny things. So that absolutely makes me feel more comfortable.

There aren t many places where it feels as if you are dining at home, however wednesday night tv if you look hard enough there are such gems located around Limassol. One of these is Ryan s Bar and Grill. Located shortly after the salt lakes, the restaurant might be a decent drive out of the centre of Limassol but it s a drive worth taking.
The restaurant boasts a relaxed atmosphere and a great view. But central to the outlet s success is surely the impeccable service. The staff go out of their way to ensure that your experience is unforgettable. With friendly smiles in abundance and a high levels of customer care it is almost worth taking the trip for this alone.
However, the amazing food really should not be committed to a back seat. With a large variety of dishes, even the fussiest of eaters will find something to satisfy their appetites. For starters we went for Beef Carpaccio, Ryan s Chicken Wings and the Ryan s Mushrooms. The Beef Carpaccio provides a light starter option for those who want to leave plenty of room for the main course. The carpaccio is served with fresh rocket, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, horseradish, fresh grated ground pepper and Gran Moravia flakes; an utterly delicious option.
The chicken wings are served with barbeque, spicy and Roquefort sauce, while the mushrooms are cooked in garlic butter and tomato sauce with melted cheese. There is a large variety of main dishes to choose from but the steaks should not be missed. The house specialty is the Ryan s steak, cooked with prime steer beef tenderloin on the charcoal, flamed in brandy, cooked in red wine sauce with mushrooms, onions, fresh cream, cheddar cheese, garlic and parsley. The creative combination of these ingredients provides the customer with a mouthwatering dish.
Another great steak option is the pepper steak. Even though it s a common dish Ryan s provides an amazing example of it that will leave you impossibly full but still wanting more. Alternatively you could choose the Mexican steak or the Roquefort Steak, which also sound great options.
Pork shanks are marinated in herbs and beer and slow roasted and served with potato wedges, mustard sauce and salad of rocket leaves, feta and tomatoes. Or, slow cooked lamb shank is cooked in commandaria wine sauce, served with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The shanks are cooked to perfection.

Jess doesn t end up taking the museum job, thanks marquee sydney to Cece s story about how she was J

Maybe it s the fact that I really needed something to shake off my post-Christmas marquee sydney blues. Maybe it s because we haven t gotten a new New Girl episode in over a month. Maybe it s the fact that the series really focused in and gave enough time to each character, providing individually satisfying moments for all five main players. No matter what the reason is, last night s episode of New Girl , Clavado En Un Bar (which is the song played by Kevin-97 near the end of the episode marquee sydney and literally marquee sydney translates to Stuck in a bar ) worked on pretty much every level for me.
While I may not have been laughing hysterically every single minute (something I find myself doing during most New Girl episodes), Clavado En Un Bar made up for its limited laughs with strong character work. The main instigator of this character introspection was Jess and her dilemma over whether to leave her teaching job (which had become a little insane due to the school s administration) and take a new, higher-paying job at a museum. Thankfully, even though the episode s initial focus was simply on Jess, New Girl found time to allow everyone moments to shine, specifically Winston, Cece, and Nick.
During much of the show s first two seasons, Winston Bishop has always been a difficult character for New Girl viewers to pin down, and fortunately, the series has done a great job during the latter marquee sydney part of season marquee sydney two and the first half of season three establishing Winston as the unlucky in love, weird, and wacky roommate. However, with this now fully established personality, the writers really had to consider Winston s past (his time playing basketball in Latvia) and present (working as a sports radio host) careers and see how they jived with the new personality they now had on their hands.
The answer is that these careers do not really mesh well with this developed Winston, something the character himself recognized during last night s New Girl , when he saw how all of his life had been pre-planned for him. He was supposed to play basketball, and then, because he played basketball, he became marquee sydney a sports radio personality, but the real question is what does Winston really want to do? By quitting his job at the radio station, both New Girl and Winston are in fascinating new territory where they could go anywhere and do almost anything with the character, as long as they keep the weird wackiness that now makes him so funny.
On a similar note, while New Girl had difficulty finding a place for Winston during its first two seasons, it s been having more difficulty during this third season at providing a role for Hannah Simone s Cece that isn t defined marquee sydney by love interest for Schmidt and Coach or best friend for Jess. Cece s decision to work at the bar with Nick maybe happens a little too quickly, but it makes logical sense (someone who works part time as a model would financially most likely need another part-time job) and also allows the New Girl writers to more easily integrate Cece s into the main plot while also giving them the opportunity to provide her with some more definition marquee sydney as a character. Plus, it will probably give us more scenes between Nick and Cece, and I cannot wait to see how the frantic comedy of Jake Johnson plays off of the more relaxed, assured performance of Hannah Simone.
Speaking of Nick, his exchange with Jess near the end of the episode may be one of my favorite New Girl moments ever. Winston, Schmidt, and Coach each discuss how others have heavily influenced who they are or what they are supposed to do with their lives in some way, but Nick Miller, despite being constantly cut off and the butt of almost every joke, is the only person of the group who actually chose the career he loved and seems to be the happiest out of the bunch because of it.
The reveal that Nick not only took the bar but passed it, and then still decided to be bartender because he loved it, was excellent, and the way Jake Johnson and Zooey Deschanel play that small scene is so earnest and charming, as their chemistry is just off the charts. It s a big moment for both Jess and Nick. For Jess, it confirms her decision to continue teaching and reassures her that she s chosen the right guy, a person who might seem childish and immature a lot of the time, but who is also intelligent, responsible, and capable of succeeding when he is doing something he s passionate about. For Nick, it negates the comments of his shortcomings from Schmidt, Coach, and Winston and shows that although he s the one pouring beers and serving drinks, Nick Miller is probably the smartest, marquee sydney most well-adjusted guy in the bar.
Jess doesn t end up taking the museum job, thanks marquee sydney to Cece s story about how she was Jess s first student. That flashback was my second favorite scene in the episode behind Nick s reveal to Jess that he had passed the bar, and I thought the two young actresses playing Cece and Jess nailed the characters mannerisms.

A review of tonight's " New Girl " coming up just as soon as our school has an ethnic laugh factory gay bully... "Clavado En Un Bar" was another flashback-intensive episode in the vein of last season's "Virgins." While it didn't offer anything as explosively funny as Fat Schmidt covered from head to toe in lube, it was a sweet and cohesive start to 2014(*) after that very uneven run in the fall. (*) All the Christmas tree stuff makes me wonder if it was originally meant to air in early December. Even with Coach added to the mix with an additional story, the episode didn't feel overstuffed. There was no attempt made at explaining how Cece became a model (and having her work at the bar seems like an easy way to use Hannah Simone more), and the story of Coach's nickname note that his first name is Ernie, just like Coach on "Cheers" was only as long as it needed to be. I'm in general not a great lover of Fat Schmidt, but this particular flashback was strange in the way "New Girl" can do so well, while the Winston story finally dealt with how little the character Lamorne Morris has been playing for two and a half years feels like the kind of jock who would have been good enough to play professionally, even as the ninth guy off the bench for the eighth best team in Latvia. And the Nick and Jess stuff, separately and together, was terrific. Brian Posehn is a welcome new addition to the show's recurring ensemble, and the scenes at both Jess's current school and her first one in Portland were ridiculous without ever quite descending into cartoon. Nick's story, meanwhile, was a nice corrective to the trend of showing him to be completely incompetent at every aspect laugh factory of adult life. Those jokes are almost always funny, but at a certain laugh factory point it's too much, especially if we're meant to take him seriously at all as a romantic partner for Jess. That he tends bar only because he wants to, even as he was good enough to pass a different kind of bar, provides just enough shading laugh factory that it'll buy the show at least another six months of jokes about how Nick doesn't understand how electricity works. (And in his dealings with the elderly barfly, as well as his mentoring of Cece, we also see that Nick is pretty good at what his chosen profession.) Like the end of "Virgins," the closing scene was a nice reminder laugh factory of the abundant chemistry between Zooey Deschanel and Jake Johnson . I haven't loved everything the show has done with them as a couple this season, but this was a very nice, relaxed, charming moment. What did everybody else think?

GuanoLad Really did not like this episode at all. Thought the dialogue was poorly written, all the jokes fell flat, and that seemed to be due to the editing stomping on all of the punchlines. The art of comic timing is being mangled by bad editors. January 8, 2014 at 6:55AM EST Reply to Comment
Brendan While it was sporadically funny, the episode didn't really start to click for me until the second half, and especially the third act, when they stopped aiming for laughs and dealt more with the honest sort of fears that this kind of choice can cause for people, especially someone like Jess. NEW GIRL appears to be trying to make season 3 into a season of change and growth for the characters, so addressing how unnerving that can be was a smart play, and very well performed. And the rest of it was amiable enough, even with the big laughs spread pretty far apart. Winston is a complete cartoon but it works with what Lamorne Morris does, so go for it, I guess.
