To reach Hubbermann family, Liesel could not read. Once the first secret, the rest of the events came at breakneck speed and as a typhoon passed through Liesel's life: at Heaven, a nightmare, a book on the River Amper, Rudy Steiner, an accordion, cigarettes, another book, lingerie, apples stolen saumensch, cellar, Max, Gestapo, the klub 17 a huge library of open windows, an air strike, words, words, words, words, words. A black notebook. 175 pages of words. Style. Death. Life.
